WELCOME TO PIRATE FIGHTERS RESOURCE PAGE

Regardless of the nature of the pirates that have suddenly attacked you--physical, relational, occupational, financial, or otherwise, we’d like to paddle alongside a bit, to help steady your little boat through prayer and friendship.

Our aim is to share with you a few encouraging resources that we and other PFPs (people fighting pirates)—have found particularly helpful. We've chosen to keeping our links to a minimum, because we know how confusing life gets when under attack. But if you have found something that's been invaluable, please recommend it to us through our contact page.

Please stay awhile.

Books and other media

West Nile Diary: One Couple's Triumph Over a Deadly Disease, by Kathleen Gibson  This is the story of our own battle against the pirates of West Nile Neurological Disease, and the surprising results of trusting God to help us find treasure the villains couldn't rob . NOTE: THIS BOOK IS AVAILABLE AS AN AUDIO BOOK.
A Grace Disguised: How the Soul Grows Through Loss, by Gerald Sittser.  In one moment, Sittser lost his wife, his mother, and his young daughter. This remarkable book demonstrates what we also believe: that it's not our circumstances that dictate our happiness--it's how we respond to them.
Shattered Dreams: God's Unexpected Pathway to Joy, by Larry Crabb  An unforgettable picture of how God uses shattered dreams to release better dreams and a more fulfilling life.
Ezine Articles by Kathleen Gibson -- This 10 part article series tells additional portions of our story and provides helpful information for others facing health crises and life-losses.

Online Support

Overcomers.org is a Christian Ministry of comfort and encouragement, offering hope to those whose circumstances are so dire they are otherwise "hopeless".  At this site you'll find others' life stories, encouraging scriptures, and more.

Caregiving.Com
A website with abundant resources for those who are caring for elderly relatives--but many things on this site are applicable to those helping loved ones through major physical difficulties.

Martha Williamson on Grief and Loss If you life has been turned upside down by the loss of a loved one, suddenly or otherwise, this set of 16 three (or so) minute videos by the creator of "Touched by an Angel" will help you start the process toward healing, happiness, and forgiveness.

When life turns upside down, one of the most comforting things, we have found, is what we call "the fellowship of the similarly afflicted". If you have not connected with others who have been where you are, you may find support in an online forum. Thousands of Christians use Christian Forums.com.
