Our Shepherd's Good Night

N
ow I lay thee down to sleep,
So close your eyes, my tired sheep.

The morning flies on wings of prayer,

To those who trust I’m always there.

N
ow I lay thee down to sleep,
My precious child, your life I keep.

Thou shalt not toss, nor turn, nor sigh,

I slumber not, I reign on high!

N
ow I lay thee down to sleep,
Your loved ones, child, trust me to keep.

No evil frightens me, no night

So black it can put out my light.

N
ow I lay thee down to sleep,
Your worries, child, give me to keep.

Please let me hold tomorrow’s dread,

And turn it into faith instead.
